Generally speaking are Posies springs the best quality for the money? Allot of members mention this company when talking about installing reverse eye style, etc.
I recently installed 3" lowering blocks to sit the back end down...but it's not as dropped as I expected.
I believe the spring pocket kit along stock height springs (5) leaf are now the limiting forces.
Even with reverse eye springs (5) leaf....I'll still require at least a 1" block to achieve that tucked up look. Rear wheel/tire combo Nitto NT555 295/45R 18 on an Billet Specialty 18 x 10 wheel.

So, I am putting in the spring pocket kit from Earle Williams. I am trying figure out why guys need reverse eyed springs. Is it correct to assume with the pocket kit that I would not need the reverse eyed springs. With that said, I would be looking at the 4 leaf 3" lowering posies superslide.

by reversing the eye on the spring it creates a good amount of the lowering . about 1-1/2 " then they make up the rest up in the arch .

Got my springs yesterday. I'm going to compare the arch to the questionable springs soon.

Otherwise, they look like springs, and they are unpainted.

They also have a clamp that will be in the way of the pocket kit. But there's another clamp on the forward half that's in a good spot, so I dont see any problem with removing it. The clamps aren't riveted, that's good.

From my invoice, "Customer using pocket kit and will make springs work. Customer specified heavy version for his application."

Also, "Painted springs are not returnable."

"Product not returnable if it has been -
Painted
Painted and stripped
Damaged
Modified...
Missing leaves
Rusted..."

"Customer is responsible for return freight costs"

Etc.

So I'm going to be as sure as possible before I cut that clamp off and paint them.

I'm expecting everything to be OK.

Rick......any update on your springs?????

Sorry I haven't given you guys any feedback. The first week I had them it was cold in the shop and I kind of blew it off. Last week I was out of town. This week I've been ill and haven't done anything. Getting better, should be able to do something soon.

The front clamp will have to come off. I don't see a big problem with that, because there's a 2nd clamp that can be kept. The clamp is a "Punch Lok" type, clamped around a rubber cushion. It isn't riveted to the spring, so it won't leave a mark.

My biggest concern is whether the top leaf with the reveresed rear eye will clear the pocket kit cutout. That can be fixed some way, but it would be nice if I don't have to touch it.

The other thing I want to see is the difference in arch from the supposed 3" drop springs I have, which I know aren't going to do that.

Rick,
I'm sure you have researched other reverse spring eye manufacturer options.
If I'm correct...you also inquired about the application (spring pocket) along with fit and form.
I'm going to contact Total Control, they offer reverse eye style. With the ever growing popularity of the spring pocket conversion on tri-fives it would seem manufs. would adapt as well.
Modifying a set of springs from the start would raise red flags. Degrading them from their intended design.

I don't see that removing that clamp is any different from never putting one there, which is the other option.
Are we talking about spring pockets in front of spring....moved to inside of frame rail and on the inside of the rail???I have had thre sets on posies lowered springs , i use these and and install different shocks[no bottoming out].I have also used the 2" lowering blocks in my 49 ford and my 49 merc. I think they are great!!-- good ride etc. The only thing is they are more money than the reversed eye springs sold by Danchuk.

Its the supr slides that i hav,-------[plastic knobs reccessed into each leaf end for smoother ride.

Spring pocket kit

I don't see why anyone would think that a pocket kit would lower the car much. Granted the rear perch is raised. But the front bolt is still in the orginal position. So I think the amount moved would be a slight amount. I have the Posie's springs. Installed as recieved with Cal Trac's. No problem. I don't remember how many leaf but I think they are 5's.

You can't go any lower than Poises 4 leaf double reverse eye and be driveable on public roads. I have slapped axle to frame and have no lowering blocks whatsoever.
Hey Bossman thanks for your input. I didn't know Posies offered a double reverse eye...that definitely changes things.
Are you running with a spring pocket kit?
You opted for a 4-leaf vs. a 5-leaf....any particular reason for that choice?
Man, it would be great to get the best of both....lowered and w/o help from blocks.

Hopefully Bossman doesn't mind me answering for him, but we were just talking about his setup. He is not running a pocket kit. Stock rearend width and wheel wells. What a sweet car with nice stance!!!
