In looking at the three supports, the 55, 56 look like strait metal to the fenders, the 57 has a arc in the attachment aera to the fenders, don't know about the width and depth comparisons ?
I bought a 56' last year just before I bought the 57' and the radiator in the
56' was a fairly new heavy duty one so I swapped it into the 57' before I sold the 56'. Have not had a problem and it fit right in. That said, the cross member on my 56' was cut and didn't go all the way across so maybe the PO bought a 57' instead. Does that all make sense?
The saddle is the same or close enough for all years, but 6's are different from V8's. There may be some minor variations - the 55s used 3 different designs but I think they will interchange.
The filler panels are year and perhaps option specific also.
Just found this thread - I posted an answer to your thread in the Chit Chat forum, so will post here as well.
The 55 top bar is about 3/4" narrower than the 56. Measurements are 3' 8 3/4" for the 55 and 3' 9 1/2" for the 56 - both meausurements are at the front bolt hole.
I needed a V-8 radiator support for my 56 so I spliced the top bar onto a 57 radiator mount,
It looks like it will work, or so I hope!
