Thread size – WCFB carb base plate port

Hello!

What is the thread size of the port (rear) on the base plate of my WCFB carb?

It would be the same thread size NPT as the adaptor/connector for a PCV kit – which I just tested and fits.

Hint: It's not 3/8 NPT. (Ask me how I know!)

Need to know so I can buy the right tee to accommodate vacuum for a brake booster.

Cheers

John

Might be that the port is 1/4" NPT?

In which case I need to find a barb with a 1/4" thread and a 3/8" barb?

Just ordered.

We're in a lockdown with 5km radius travel limits (and only for essential purposes), so did it online. (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.)

Thanks.

That’s pretty much it. Also there is a 9pm curfew.

The only reasons to leave home are for medical, essential shopping, essential jobs, one hour exercise (with just one other household member). Masks and 1.5m distancing apply.

Not so bad given it’s been winter, and as we get our vaccination rates higher the restrictions will be easing.

Australia managed to have zero cases for many months until Delta came along. Now we have one state where it got away a fair bit; one state (where I am) where it got away a little, but is being kept low/steady; and all other states have no cases.

Just got these parts in – correct thread size and all!

Question: I want the elbow fitting to rest either at a 9 or 3 o'clock position so as to take the secondary attachments (and hoses) out a side. Is it ok to use teflon tape to adjust the turns of the fitting to rest firm at this position? (I know it is bad to use tape on the fuel lines etc., but that's all before the carb.) Can see that the PO used a bit of tape even on the carb base plate plug that is already there – although not sure why that would have been needed on a tapered thread?

That’s pretty much my question. If these brass parts find snug at 12 o’clock surely they won’t go another 90 degrees to find final position, so do I use tape? Or am I underestimating the material?

Gotcha. Thanks a bunch. 1/2 a turn is the max I would need. Will get this sorted early next week. :)
