Just cranked my rebuilt 350 chevy s.b. built to LT1 specs with comp cam 280H, .480 lift, 230 degrees duration @.50 with 280 degrees total. Intake is Edelbrock Air Gap with Holley 600 dual line. Ignition is Mallory Unilite with initial advance set at 10 degrees. Exhaust is 2/12" rams horn with X-pipe crossover. Engine balanced, decked, blueprinted to specs. Engine will idle at 750 rpm after warm- up. Taking a vacuum reading from the large port at the back of the carb shows 9"-10" of vacuum on the gauge. Should I suspect a vacuum leak or would this be about right for this cam/valve train? If this is correct, and I have converted to dual master cyllinder, with discs up front and drums in the rear, would I need a vacuum pump rather than a cannister to get the needed vacuum for the power brakes? The booster is a 7" unit.
Thanks for the help.
