What is the thread size on a '57 Chevy ignition switch?

The threads I'm referring to are the ones that the collar threads onto. I just received a new Danchuk ignition switch, and the threads are not cut, instead they look like they were formed by laser etching. As a result, the collar won't screw on. Anyway, if you happen to know the thread size, please let me know. I might be able to cut the threads at work with a die. Thanks.

Dave do yourself a favor and throw the Danjunk failure prone switch away and search for a NOS gm switch. they are still out there.

you can now buy a full lock set that is all keyed the same to one key. most of the vendors sell them. I know east coast has them.

You should be able to just buy the reproduction of that, not much to go wrong there. Just make sure you get the keys and test it OUT OF THE CAR FIRST. There will be 2 types of caps on the end of it. Most replacements have "ears" but those are not correct. The correct one will be smooth all the way around the outside edge.

Here is what the OEM cover look like https://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-1959-...2625390596?fits=Year:1957|Make:Chevrolet&hash=item5916402004:g:mzkAAOSweRhau63r

I believe the eBay seller Crazylights sells the complete switch with this cover. It fits the 57 bezel properly.

I found crazylights on ebay.

Thanks John. Crazylights on ebay sells a complete kit of locks for the doors, trunk, glove box, and ignition lock cylinder so they all work with the same key. I'm going to buy that set.

I'm still mildly shocked that after 60+ years, there are still NOS stock of trifive parts out there!
