Hi all,
I'm seriously considering getting out of the car hobby. I haven't driven my '56, aside from a few trips around the block to keep things lubricated, for two years. And I don't miss it at all. I've had many pauses with the car in the past 10 years...I think I've just outgrown the car. I've owned it since I was 16. I'm almost 50 now and want to move on and focus on different things in life...early retirement and buying a cabin in the mountains here in Wyoming so I can fish every day during the summer.
I don't even know what a fair asking price is.
Car is a '56 Belair two door hardtop. I did the bodywork and paint about 15 years ago. It's a driver quality paint job with flaws and some chips/scratches. It is definitely not perfect, but it does look good. All the glass is good, new windshield, trim is good/complete. Could use a newly chromed rear bumper and tail light housings.
New electrical (AAW stuff).
Frame has a C4 front clip (from Classic Edge Designs) with Viking double-adjustable coil-overs, C4 control arms with Global West Del-a-lum bushings, power steering with Z51 cooler, C5/6 hybrid power 13" disc brakes. Rear suspension is mostly stock, 3" lowered leafs, shock bar, Viking double-adjustable shocks. Rear axle is a Ford 8.8, 3.73 with trac-loc (equivalent of a GM posi) from an Explorer with 11.2" disc brakes. Has C7 Corvette 18x8.5 wheels all around. Brand new tires (Bridgestone S007 255s up front, 275s out back). I don't think they have even 50 miles on them.
Engine is a 421ci Dart SHP block with AFR 220 heads, a pretty rowdy hydro roller cam, headers, x pipe, 2.5" exhaust with Borla mufflers. Have all specs on engine and even assembly pictures...same with C4 front clip. Holley HP EFI with Holley Stealth throttle body, professionally tuned. Muncie M20 transmission with Spec Stage 2+ clutch. Big aluminum crossflow radiator with dual SPAL fans controlled by Holley ECU. Car is very fast but drives well in cruising...has more power than the tires can handle through most of second gear. Never been dyno'd, but somewhere in the 525 HP territory with similar torque. Engine probably has 1000 miles on it. Trans shifts great. Car stops exceptionally well.
Interior is sparse. Recaro buckets with carpet...nothing else. Dash is all there along with gauges. Stock rear seat and arm rests need to be redone, but I have them.
Car is a bit radical as I built it for auto cross, but it could be detuned and the front suspension softened up.
Picture of said car. What do y'all think a decent and realistic starting price is?
