Hello

After looking at many threads discusses about "4 door Hardtop Roof Rail"
.. it could be an item that rare to find? however..

In the 1957 classic cars has been made in similar shape between Chevy & Pontiac...
specially in the body style like in Hardtops .. therefore, if we
took closer look into the body style between two vehicles like the following:

we could find any similarities in the making of body style ?

Although, the question is that is it most of Chevy product could be compatible
with Pontiac products? specially in 1957 make?

I'm looking for "4 door Hardtop Roof Rail weatherstripping" for my 1957 Pontiac Star Chief :

I figure that the Roofrail weatherstripping could be compatible in both vehicles because of the similarities in body style,
also there are many product for 4 Dr HT Roof Rail 1957-1959 Chevy Bel Air .. unlike the Pontiac ..

I tried "CPR Pontiac Parts Restoration" and found it over 270$ ..
http://www.pontiacparts.net/productdetailscat.aspx?pid=613007

So is the price of CPR okay? or should I go for a try to have the Chevy roof rail weatherstripping, and see if it works?
unfortunately, I own 1957 Bel Air sedan, although if it was HT I would have no problem checking if the
roof rail weatherstripping compatible with the Star Chief ..

I would question the quality of $140 roof rails... if you that is for a pair.

I looked for a few weeks and finally paid $270 for mine and was very happy with the quality.

Post some measurements of that Pont. I think the "bel" top is the same. Measure from the top of the front roof frame rail at the windshield to the bottom of the rear Bel roof at the rear door ( a diagonal measurement of the same side) then stretch out the weatherstrip that you have and post that measurement. I replaced mine (57 4 Dr Hrdtp) this past winter with repops from Danchuk. High quality and perfect fit. :anim_25:

Glad to see it confirmed. From what I have been told be several former GM people is that they just put Chevy front sheet metal and rear quarters on the Pontiac sport sedan bodies. They did this after seeing how successful the sport sedan Pontiac was in 1955. The began the Chevrolet sport sedan in 1956.

55-57 Pontiacs are richer kissing cousins of 55-57 Chevys. Same basic body shells and even the same glass. bowtie-trifive

Glad to see this information confirmed again ..
Yes what consider the glass .. the 57 "Star Chief Hardtop" and "Bel Air Sedan"
have the same windshield.when I went over to buy a windshield for the Pontiac
he says it's compatible in both vehicles.

Although .. here is a picture showing windshield(s) for sale which listed on eBay ..
it improves the compatability in two vehicles.

I have a first hand knowledge of the Chevy/Pontiac interchange. I bought a totaled '56 sport sedan about 40 years ago. It was T-boned in the center post on the pass.side. Before removing any bent sheetmetal, we hooked a damage dozer in the center post area and pull some of the floor/rocker/center post to where it was close although bent. I the used a section of floor/rocker and center post from a '57 chevy sport sedan and the doors from a '56 Pontiac , yes the moldings were different and I had to change the trim pads but it all fit. Seems to me I also used the Pontiac headliner and trim on the Chevy.
