Friends 57 has a 350 4 speed no a/c. He wants to take off the belt driven fan and replace it with an electric setup. What are you guys using? Brands? Push or pull? Sizes etc. Thanks for the help.
Wow! Thanks again! I have some reading to do.You are welcome.
A later model stock type clutch fan has more efficient blades for moving air than a flex fan does. Flex fan blades are designed to flex and since fixed blades don't have to do that they can be designed better to flow air.
Also, flex fans can fail and be dangerous. Many reports of that happening out there.
Clutches vary for air flow performance vs drag depending on the application. Since your car has A/C, I would look for a clutch intended for a truck. It will maintain a higher percentage of the pulley speed than a lower duty version.

Hi Roger. Do you have a specific model you would recommend? My radiator is stock but mounted in the middle of the cut core support-(not by me). I have a little more room behind the radiator than the V8 position, but not a lot more.

Well Gil, two things can't occupy the same space, so something has to give. What's more important to you, keeping your engine cool, or keeping that 2" wide cog belt setup that looks cool? Forget using slim line fans, they don't move enough air to be used as primary cooling fans, except maybe if you live in Alaska. Pusher fans are only 80% as efficient as pullers and therefore not a good choice for primary cooling fans. Your only other choice is to install an HRD recessed firewall and set the engine and trans back a good 3 + inches.Does Spal or the other manufacturers offer a "Slim line" fan for those of us with VERY limited space?..... or are they all about 3 to 4 inches thick? My choice would be a puller fan but I may only be able to go with a pusher unless there is a slim version.
My Rad Core Support is being replaced with a cross flow rad and support combo, but my fear is that if I can't make it fit with the stock core support, it may not fit with the PRC unit.
OP'r... sorry didn't mean to hijack....
Gil
Thanks Robert!I used this fan behind a stock radiator mounted in the 6 cylinder position
dual fan SPAL 30102052 it tucks in the core support and I used 2 pieces of 1" aluminum angle across the inside of the core support "U" to make the bottom and top mounts.
be aware this fan makes significant noise when running.
