Is anyone familiar with this business in Stillman Valley Illinois (near to Rockford, Ill)..? I'm talking to them about a custom stainless steel fuel tank, so I'd be very interested in anything anyone has to say about them...?

Thank you Ray!~ I wasn't familiar with them, and had never heard of them before having them recommended to me for custom tank construction. They seem to have a relatively new facility now (from the google maps ground view)... :)

I have also

bought a new unused Rock Valley tank on Ebay later decided I wanted to go EFI so I sent tank back for pump install. I brush finished it and used a Williams centering kit for exhaust clearance. Great looking piece. I also had to replace the trunk floor so I bought that without spare well.

Based on the good reviews from you guys, and good discussions with Scott at Rock Valley, I ordered a custom tank for my '57 Nomad today... Now I can worry about something else while I wait the 5-6 weeks for arrival.. :)

Scott told me yesterday that he's been building stainless gas tanks (and other items) since 1971 in the same location... I complimented him on the 'new look' of his original building, and also on the recommendations I received here from his past customers!

PS. I had checked out the business location/look using google.com/maps and it *appeared* like a new building! :)

Because of a modification previously made to the spare tire well of my '57 Nomad (the spare tire well was removed and replaced with a same size 'storage box' - which I wanted to keep), I had to have a totally custom size tank made. It is basically a stainless steel box (10" x 11" x 33") with brackets to mount to the frame rails (rather than straps). It should hold around 15 gallons which should be enough with the LS1/4L60/3.08 gear mechanics, and not require further modifications to the body.

Bama,
Do you have a corvette C4 rear in there? I am planning my build and have similar issues. ...
Yes, I do... Corvette Corrections chassis with all C4 Corvette suspension/steering components... I had 11" between the front of the 'storage box' and the back of the suspension; I'm going to take 10" of it for the gas tank which will go essentially frame rail to frame rail. By getting the tank as high as I can get it without hitting the floor, and making it 11" deep, I can get a bit more than 15 gallons in it.

if you are interested in more details, send me a PM and I'll give you some additional info..
