Anyone ever get people who say they had a car just like yours at a gas station. Then get a different look when they notice a straight axle is set up underneith. The next question I get is, do you have a 350? 454 I respond. Then they ask if its a 4 speed? Dne 5 speed. Its. Got the weathered primer black rockin pretty hard ala two lane, but that's only cuz the body work is getting done in sections. Other than that I get dudes with lifted trucks lookin at me funny now, like they want to race cuz their truck is big and loud. Flow masters do wonders. School age kids always look too. Funny days we live in. I still get haters who say the front end isn't high enough. I've gotten used to the bump steer and the stiff suspension cuz I drive it on the street, installed coil overs and it helped some, the sway bar helped a little too. But I am running the speedway specials 32 inch length leaf springs, im sure longer leafs would give it a smoother ride. But im happy right now driving it and tripping out on all the stares the car gets.

I don't have a straight axle under the front of my car, but yes, I do hear the comments from people saying that they once had one "just like it." I mostly just enjoy hearing their stories, and chatting for a while.

Yeah, " I used to have a car just like yours....But mine had 4 doors... and mine had the 6 cylinder....with three on the tree...and mine had a bench seat...and mine was blue....and it was a Pontiac...but other than that it was EXACTLY the same as yours."

the bottom line bob [how are you brother?]is every one of us get these statements and questions and i realize that all most all of the people asking ,love these machines just like you and me,and they probably wish they still had them, and a little part of them still wants to connect to what we do.and on a side note when i started the 55 i decided i was going all out on this one [my third]but i had no idea the expense and amount of trouble i would have,i would have bought one finished

One dude in perticular kept telling me he "had one" exactly like mine. He kept saying "exactly" so I asked him to tell me about it. Well, his exactly was adifferent colorand wasn't a hard top, but his 56 was exactly like mine. I then tried to tell him mine was a 55 but he was having none of that. It was a 56, he new it was a 56, "cause he sed to have one exactly like it....EXACTLY."

as far as the money goes, i feel you on that one. issues arise every once and a while. last week the gas tank started to leak from the filler neck, got a screw in my rear tire. ran out of gas one day. the shifter knob started loosening about 5 times so i tightened 6 times and it stripped out, so i drilled it and pinned it and then the shifter arm snapped off at the knob. and today the rear brake line decided to burst, that wasn't cool. so i blocked the line added some brake fluid and drove it home on just the front brakes. if it's not one thing it's another. i drive this car a lot though. luckily i was across the street from an auto parts store when the brakes went out. otherwise i would have been chillen or calling somebody. every few months the rear tires seem like they loosen up and want to fall off. some days i am very annoyed with the maintenance. but when it's running good it's all good.

Had three different people tell this last friday night at a local cruise-in.

Some years back (7 or 8) an elderly woman said, "I lost my viginity in the back seat of a car just like your's." :happy0009:

LOL my uncles, both in their early 60's, who work for our small family business were helping with taking my car apart a few weeks ago. I overheard uncle number 1 tell the other "There's no telling how many women have been had in this old car", I got the best laugh out of that. He said it with a straight face too.

Yes sir, I can't tell you how often that happens when I'm filling up at a gas station... funny, after going gah-gah for 10 minutes looking it over, they ask what model is it.... :sign0020: drrrr... duh.. an you're think'n (...an you OWNED one of these....give me a break...don't think so...") yes sir, those moments are classic, especially when I respond by saying, yep, it's a 57 Crown Vic, very rare... and they shake their head in agreement, and go, "Oh yeah, that's it !!!, just like mine exactly...!!!" :sign0020: too funny... thanks for sharing your great story... ...now doesn't this pic below look exactly like a crown vic.... LOL !!! BDR...

The thing that i'm gettin from almost all the youngsters is.............Is that one of those cars that goes up and down with the switches. I tell'em only goes up and down, when i "pedal it" and they still have a questioned look on there face.So at cruise nights we park next to the donks to mess with'em

So????

Did you happen to get that car from your dad by chance? Hmmmmmm?:sign0020:
Funny. But no.

He's a Mopar man. Worked for Chrysler in Dayton, OH for 30 years. Only retired cause they forced him to.

My dad always called my Chevies "Junk."

just the other day i had some cops posted up trying to tow away some car at the mall. they called me over and wanted to talk to me as i came back towards my car. one of the cops was a gear head from back in the day. he mentioned something about the 55 being a classic style hotrod...basically gasser. they asked me about the straight axle and the handling. i told them it was a handful. then they asked me about the motor i told them it was a crate. so they started talking about 350's. then they asked what size, i said bbc. then they said drive it easy and don't speed. so i talked to them about the 1/8 mile raceway we have out here to ease their mind. of course when i rolled in i bumped the throttle a little, 3G rpm. so i caught their attention while first parking. my bad for that. all i want to do is just take it out on the track to test it out. i burned the alternator out the other day, bummer. i'm taking the stereo out no more sounds unless it's the motor. too many issues these last three weeks. way too many issues.

Well, if I had a 57 Crown Vic, that's sure how I'd like it to look! :) :tu
