I don't have a good answer to your question but...I am also running a 327 with double hump heads and short water pump and use the header alternator bracket.
Mine seems just fine so I was curious as to why you don't trust it? Been using this setup for years with no problems.

I put an Alan Grove bracket on mine with headers, the alternator vibrated real bad. I ended up using the head bolts. Without the head bolts, I don`t know what to tell you.:anim_25:bowtie-trifive:gba:

that's odd. did you contact Alan Grove about the issue?

my experience with the 213L Alan Grove alternator bracket is the bracket is solid with no alternator vibration. the bracket was raw metal and I painted the bracket pieces black. my 327 has double hump heads with no accessory holes so the alternator bracket options are limited.

The 213L Alan Grove alternator bracket is the bracket I have. It vibrates really bad. Maybe we should contact Alan Grove. bowtie-trifive:gba:

I thought that might be the case.

i'm guessing it was an alignment issue. do you have a stock short water pump with 7/8" top mounting boss where the alternator bracket attaches? I have an edelbrock water pump with a thicker boss so I had to use a different spacer to get the pulleys lined up.

that's all I got :sign0020:

I simplymade a bracket that is a heavy piece of 90 degree angle. two holes one fits over the front hedder stud the other is tapped for the alternator mounting bolt. Its takes some grinding and drilling but a good looking bracket can be fabbed.
