Everything sounded great yesterday so took out to our weekly cruise nite that started up.Sitting at a light was fine and so was taking off. but when reaching a certain speed to cruise like 20-30ect I could feel some hestitation. give it some gas and would take run good till I would ease to a steady speed.Have pressure at 4psi. wondering if that might be to low or carb dirty, bad wires, plugs fouled??? Diving me alittle nuts knowing it's close but just not there. Have dropped in an elebrock 600cfm... thanks for any input.

Terry....I may not know what I'm talking about....However, 4 psi seems a little low to me....I thought most carburators ran on about 7psi + or - 1....Someone may know better and will chime in.

was running at about 6-7psi and was told to get a fuel regualtor because it seems edlebrocks don'y like that much even though they tell you to run that high. Was told 4-5 was good.Sprayed the crap out of it and want to see if that helps. turned screws down till it stumbled and backed them out 2 turns.Outside of that I'm really stumped....

557, 4 psi is ok for edel's...your numbers ar ok for holley's:tu
Thanks tripleduece....How 'bout Edelbrock's 1901, which is actually a Rochester Q-Jet?

well took it for a ride and ran great...did spray it really good.. but think the big problem was actually small but never thought about till I was just looking at and changed the fuel filter..Was thinking I did this and that numbers are there what else dummie. then dawned on me tried everything else maybe have a bad filter and Bingo worked.. thanks for all the input learned alot

pops, That I am not sure of...I would still stick with 4 and see how she runs...

I had to run 3.5 with multiple carbs when I was running my 2x2's and other guys had run a single with 4.5///so you never know...

EDE's hate pressure!:D

Chevyguy, GLAD you got it figured out....

My dad always tells me..."kiss" Keep it simple stupid" :D
Almost always works when I remember to actually follow it!hahaha

also went ahead and changed the gasket in the carb thinking I had a used one in it also changed my plugs ran it all last weekend seemed good till sunday nite thought I heard it slightly stumble at about 50-55 mph had it set at 4.5 might try 4.0 today and see.Think I got it just need to find the right combo

Edels also hate any vaccum leaks. Even the smallest seems to screw them up. You might try taking a look since you are there. I use ether to check. Don't know if the even sell it anymore. Just a light spray around and see if the idle changes. Old school but works. Todays starter fuild should do the same. I have a 1407 on the SD I just got and cannot wait to switch it out. Found a small crack in a tube cover that had it loading up bigtime. Similar issues. Ran fine under throtlle but started loading up at a steady rpm.Might be Sunday's project. Today was all cleanup, I hate cleanup days:(

You mention the plugs, what did they look like? Any signs of fouling?

did the same thing with starter fluid your right can't seem to find either.Did check the bolts on carb and turned it down to 4psi to test it.Ran great hasn't ran this well in over a year so thought I'd keep there for awhile to be sure. then going to have a friend weld the hood shut so I can fool with it
