Rainy Saturday so went to the garage with intentions to clean up my mess from my last project. Then decided nah, I’ll see if I can install my 60 Impala wheel I have had for over a year. Went pretty well and in the process decided to tweak the cancelling tabs to see if I could get the right signal to cancel. Hasn’t worked right in 20 years. Also found the turn signal lever about ready to fall off.
Amazingly horn works, signals cancel with no real issues. Course I haven’t driven it yet to see if horn blows when it shouldn’t.

You only want your horn to blow on left hand turns, since you're turning across traffic !
:p

PS... This was a JOKE .. in case anyone didn't recognize it.... :)

Now that's real snazzy Larry...I have one among in my spare parts somewhere that I will have to find and install later on.

Will have to sand and paint first though.

I've priced these in the past and $300 to $400 for a new one is a little too pricy for me.
But that looks so good  I have a feeling I will be talking myself into buying one if I can find one in a solid blue color.
Agree that pretty steep. Bought mine from a guy off this site and think I paid $225. Right color also and looks brand new. My old steering wheel had cracks and needed painting do I figured might as well go with this one.Just took it for a drive and no problems.

I bought a 15" repro (chinese) at the Nationals in BG a couple of years ago for a bit over $200, but that is in primer so you'll have to paint it your color...

Love the looks of those Impala wheels. I bought an original black used a few weeks ago for my 57. Have not got it installed yet but it's on my to do list. Think I got a pretty good buy for $140.

Forgot to add the pics of the wheel, love the looks of them.

I have a 59 impala wheel in my 55 and love it...dont think even when i upgrade to a modern steering column that I will change it...is it true adding an impala wheel in the 1960s was a fad that seems to continue to this day? heard that somewhere...

Looks awesome! They definitely should have come with these from the factory.
Well, they DID in '59 and '60.. :) Steering wheel design improved and became more modern each year throughout the 50's culminating in the 1960 design... Design doesn't typically happen in a vacuum, but instead is an iterative process based on what came before.

Went on eBay auto parts and noticed the original '60 Impala convertible steering wheel is different in that the "two spoke" are almost in a straight line rather than in a V shape like the sedan or hardtop. Much prefer the V shape spokes.
