Haven't seen a SIMPLE one yet...This diagram from the Shop Manual should help

thanks for the diagram the year 1955,original switch,new wire kit,hei distributor
again thanks for the help

with an hei, eliminate the resister, tie ign.1 and ign2 together, then wire to + side of coil. "S" to "S" on the starter.
