Hey all,
Quick question, me and the wife are doing a frame off resto of a 4 door post and need to clean the bottom of surface rust. Given the cost of sandblasting, we are trying to do the derusting ourselves. My question is, does anyone know if putting the body on its side will hurt it? All removable panels are doors are off of it currently. It's high enough off the ground right now to get under it, but man is that a pain.

thanks!

it would probably damage it.

If the body is off the frame, you might consider this. If you have an engine hoist you can lift one side, and put old mattresses under that side. Then
lift the other side up using the engine hoist until it is almost on it side but resting more on the rocker. Keep the hoist there and them add some 2X4
framing to keep it from falling down.

I don't think you could buy the lumber and hardware to do that for $100 today.

Glass needs to be removed; correct??

That's not a bad idea, now I just need a gently used love cushion

I did my 55 and my last frame off project (72 Lemans vert) with body sitting on top of three 3 foot tall hurdles. It was a bit more work working sitting to wire wheel and any welding, but doable. Spraying was a challenge also. But, I like a challenge!

A roll over frame like Grandpa49 proposed selling you works fantastically... I built mine in a weekend using mostly scrap steel. The wooden one is probably easier for you to build and easier material to acquire. You're going to need to spend a FEW $ to accomplish what you want. Only alternative is to find a local friend who has one and will loan it to you, and using a borrowed one means you have to get on your horse and DO IT.. pretty quickly... :)
