ive been having this problem with the speedo cable like if it was slipping at the transmission speedo gear, i drive it in the street to test it and as im driving with the speedo off the dash i turn the tip of the cable and it turns then stops like if its just slipping, what do you guys think i should do? i was thinking of wraping the tip at the transmission with tape around it to make it thicker and test it like that, wat you guys think??

The speedometer cable just slips in to the drive gear inside the transmission tailshaft.

Raise the car enough you can (safetly) get under it. Unscrew the large nut at the transmission end of the speedometer cable and remove it from the transmission tailshaft. If the cable inside the sheeth stays in the drive gear, then it as needs to be. If however you remove the sheeth and the cable inside does not stay in the drive gear, you need to physically insert the cable in to the end of the speedometer drive gear. Then replace the sheeth as you removed it and tighten down the large nut.

Coild try some heat shrink tubing on it.....However, more than likely, you need a new drive gear.

Pops is right on. If your sure the cable is firmly into the driven gear and it still slips then the gear is reamed out or the cable end shaft is rounded. Pull out the driven gear, it's a plastic gear, and check it with the cable outside of the trans so you can hold both the cable and gear to clearly see what is happening. You can still get the driven gears. Just be sure you get the same color.
