Get your buddy to have a look in the engine bay on the pass side mounted on the firewall.
Here is a pic, if the sticker is still on the front of the unit it will say power box.

Thanks! I did see this illustration but, I thought the caption said it was from a Lincoln Continental. I did forward this and he can see if this is indeed for a Cadillac.

If you notice, there are hood latches in this picture. The 59 Cad's hood is a front latched hood.

And you can see the F**D logo at the very bottom of the sticker on the fuse box. But i guess that does not mean that GM did not follow suit...
