Hi guys n gals. Just took delivery of my 57 4dr bel air sport sedan. I have some parts in trunk but cant get them out. The key turns but thats it. I have tried applyin pressure down on the trunk while turning key but it still wnt open. What can i do next.

Take the Back seat out and you can remove cardboard panel ( if it still has one)and get into trunk. If there is not too much stuff in way you will the be able to see the truck latch.:anim_25:
If you have a helper, try turning the key to the far right, and push down & pull up on the lid as hard as possible. If nothing works, and you can't get thru the back seat, you can drill out the lock cylinder and use a flat blade screwdriver to open.
Well if you can't get at it from back seat. David solution is about all you can do. If key works, most likely the straight linkage that goes from Lock to latch may have fell out or slid back in the latch.

Try turning the key to the right like David suggested, you`ll hear a click unlocking the trunk, if you have tried applying pressure on the trunk from the top, try also directly where the lock is, as others have noted if all else fails remove the rear seat.
