My steering on my 57 is loose. by that I mean while driving my steering has me constantly moving the steering wheel left and right to keep it in a straight line. My old ford panel truck back in the 60's had a screw on the steering box to take out the loose steering. My 57 chevy also has a screw on the steering box but I want to know if it is an adjustment screw before I make any attempts to make an adjustment but just end up screwing this thing up. I know this is the area of problem because all tie rods etc are tight and no movement.

Maybe you could get your hands on a shop manual. There is a lot of information on maintaining the steering components in there (including the box)
Check the tightness of ALL of your other steering linkage components as well.

My box is just worn out, all of my front end components are 2500 miles old and all moog parts.
I went over to Brads Classics to get my front and rear bumpers and asked him to find me a good used box, he said i have a fair used box but not a good one lol. so i bought a new lares 18532 gear box from rock auto 272 bucks delivered. i wont have it in for a couple months as im in the middle of an engine change and engine bay resto on my queens 66 mustang.
