This should be an interesting post & make the younger crowd say "Darn" under their breath.:sign0020:
In 1965 I was paying $10.a week for room & board. The job I had paid about $40.a week.
I bought an aqua & ivory 55 Chevy convertible for $100.The guy I bought it from let me pay it off at $25. a week.On the 4th week I drove it home.
It had a 6 cylinder & 3 on the tree.Back then 55s,6s & 7s were everywhere. I kept it for a while & eventually sold it for $175. & was so happy w/myself for the "big" profit I made.If I only knew.

The picture is NOT the car I had.It was close to whats pictured.
In 1962 I was a Pvt in the USMC making $62.50 a month (CASH from the pay officer). Traded an 10 year old HD motorcycle for a '56 2 door hardtop in pretty fair condition w/4bbl and 3 spd & knocking rods on startup. Still not certain who got the best of that deal!

I bought my first when I was 12 years old back in 1984. It was a 1955 2 door hardtop. M20 rock crusher , 350/350 horse , 4.11 gears , posi trac. I gave $3600.00 . The man restored it in 1978 for himself. Black on Black. 1958 caddy interior. From age 12 to 16 seemed like 100 years. I really loved the car. Got my first piece of action in it. The car was Chick magnet. I married when I was 19. Divorced when I was 21. Had to sell the car when I was 22. Lost my job and had to sell it. For the next 16 years I dreamed that i had it back at least once a week. I would always be driving it in my sleep and would tell myself " Its for real this time , I really have it back !" Then wake up and well you know...It got to the point where i knew i was dreamin' and could some how stay asleep. The car is 30 miles away from where I live now. Still pretty much in the same shape but could use a repaint but i cant afford 25 grand to buy it. Anyway , I bought another 2 door hardtop two weeks ago this Saturday. I got a good deal. Its a rolling project with a lot of new parts. I also bought a 47 chevy coupe 2 years ago that really helped me with the withdraws of my 55. I'm 40 now , hope to get my 55 done before I die.... Sometime when i can figure out how to post pictures of it , i will.

I bought my first TriFive when I was 19 years old in 1962. It was a 1955 convertible, 265 V-8 with a standard three speed with O.D. Car was near perfect condition and I paid $800 for it. Sold it in 1964 when I went into the Navy.

I purchased my first tri-five in 1972 and after securing a full-time job working for a plumbing manufacturing company while earning $2.10/hr. Readers may disagree, but I felt it was time to quit my $1.60/hr restaurant job and turn in the green hat, and green necktie for a full-time position making appliance pipe connectors. At $84 bucks a week, I bought my brother’s 1956 210 Delray for $400. It had the original 265 and power-glide transmission.

I bought my first one in 1973, it was a 56 210 2 door sedan, it looked a lot like a 56 version of the Two Lane Blacktop 55. It had a fiberglass tilt front end, with a Grump lump scoop, grey primer. I paid $75 less engine and trans. I sold it after a couple of months and bought a 55 Nomad, with 283 and 4 speed for $1300.

My first Tri Five I bought from my parents in 1967, and was my mom's '57 Belair 2dr sdn. 283, 2 barrel, single exhaust, with 67,000 miles and a freshly rebuilt PG trans. $500.
My next 4 1957's cost less than $100 ea., and all were either 4dr. sdns., or wagons. Then my '55 2dr. sdn. 150 that cost me $120. It was my favorite of all of them that I owned.
Had a bunch of $50 4 drs. I bought just to part out, but don't count them. They were cheap cars in the 70's as a 4 dr.
