Super interested in this post and subscribed! I as well picked up a marine BBC 572 with a Chevrolet Sportsman Block, Dart Aluminum Heads, Crane Roller Valve train, 871 BDS Blower and two 750 Holley Double Pumpers for my Gasser project. The motor is supposed to have a Callies Crank, Carrillo Rods and be in the 1,000 to 1,200hp range. I dropped the motor off for disassembly this last weekend for the same step as you to find out what the heck I really have for internals. The Holley Terminator Max X so far seems the way to go with a 4L80E for my application 80% street and 20% strip on a 3,400lb car. Nothing like a blower motor starting right up, performance tunes at a switch and improved protection on the fly against damage. I think we are going to go with E85 for performance and cooling especially due to the fact I live in Arizona. I had to section my new firewall 8" wider just to get the monster to fit.
