Crack in my front passenger spring pocket. What may have caused this AND more important how should I fix it?

Converting the front suspension to tubular A arms and coilovers.
I just so happened to look up in the passenger spring pocket and noticed (more like ***) is that metal cracked and bent up like 90 degrees?

First, the crack/bend terminated at the hole which I think I am lucky for as I think that stopped it from spreading.

I am guessing that a spring compressor was used and the bolted shaft may have pushed up against the metal, cracking and bending it.

To fix this, I am guessing I need to bend the metal back into position and weld it.
(Yeah I am wondering how hard that is gonna be with the tight quarters and thick metal.)

Once I have that done, should that be enough or should I look into re-enforcing it, if so any ideas?

I welded it back up...
Real PITA ass to get at it but it should be better then before as I added a bit more weld to strengthen it up this sanded it down a little bit so the repair is not so obvious.
Thanks all.
