I have mixed feelings on Danchuk shutting down their retail operation. I bought parts from them for the better part of 20 years. I don't recall ever having any issues with them. As mentioned, there are many vendors left who will still sell the parts they manufacture. I don't see their exit as a great liability to the restoration industry. What I think I'll miss most about them, is their blemish sales. I bought some very nice parts from them, at a nice, reduced price. To this day, I still can't tell what the issue was with the part. I wish them well, Carmine.

I have seen that also, parts that show no defect what so ever. I think it may have been a "pretend" blemish sale, or at least just some of the parts. Some business' have MAP for their dealers and the only way to get around that is to say it's something other then new or perfect. If you were a dealer you'd pitch a bxtch if your supplier was undercutting your price. Then again it just may have been that Danchuk were just being wonderful and considerate. You decide.

I was really disappointed to hear about not being able to order directly through them anymore, they were my go-to ever since they re-produced the 55 grills which I got as soon as they came out and I think that was about 20 some-odd years ago now. I am thankful for this site because I wrote down (yes pen and paper) a bunch of the sites you guys are all using for parts so I'm not as upset as I was when I first learned about it. I really enjoyed their catalogs, both print and on-line knowing it was a quality company dealing specifically in tri-five parts. My car has been finished for years but you never know when you may need some odd-ball piece that wore out. I've already checked out the sites you folks have mentioned and am impressed, thank's everyone!!

Same here. Never bought directly from Danchuk, always nearest and best price. I have purchased from all of the above. Same policy for any other parts. Also, shop at the swap meets and know the prices of what I'm looking for. I don't see any difference.
I bought some parts from Danchuk way back in the late 70s, early 80s, but I live in So. Cal, so I could drive down there. I no longer have a TriFive, but if I ever get another I will find what I need.

Why? Most should have existing stock plus there should be no change in operation for Danchuk manufacturing, it's only the retail store/operation that has shut down
Danchuk has ceased to sell anything other than what they manufacture. I drove over there the day before they closed and you wouldn't believe the thousands of parts they had for sale for 20 cents on the dollar. Bought a lot.

Lucky you. I did not know about it, or probably would have got a few things myself. However, since I don't have a TriFive I would need to resell anything I bought, so maybe I would not buy anything.

Mutton Hollow!
I actually just made my first purchase from Mutton Hollow a few months ago and will definitely be doing more business with them. They were very personable and went out of their way to fill my order. I had tried to order the same parts from several other larger dealers and was told the parts weren’t available from the manufacturer. MH made a call and was able to get them dropped shipped for me to complete my order. Great customer service and fair prices.

i dont expect Danchuck dealers to be getting up to speed any time soon.
not with some people buying out all stock of some parts.
so where are you buying good quality parts?
Frank
Cars, Inc is one place to utilize. They offer steel stamping made in the U.S.A. and it matches the original thickness or gauge used by Chevy. A lot of foreign imports are 19 ga. instead of 18 ga. They also sew their own interiors now.
Ol' 55 outside of Philadelphia is another choice. They have been around for some time.
Read Deal Steel is another option.
Personally, I will be using them in this order for my needs. Danchuk claims they will be manufacturing stuff, most likely supplying bumpers and tail lights. I called them a while back and suggested they start reproducing the Delco Power Sweep arms and blades. They responded with the usual reply people give, "we'll look into it".

When we had trouble with an order that Ecklers said that was in stock when ordered, and 2 months later did not have the parts, we went to Mutton Hollow and got the parts on the spot.

This is why most of us have to resort to good used parts. The cost has risen so much. I watch Iron Head garage and he did a great job on his 55 Gasser with mostly used and parts he fabricated himself. Very cool ride ! My 55 Sedan will be like his not a trailer queen a real driver to enjoy.

I buy a lot from MH, good folks. Wish I could say as much about yearone---been waiting on door panels for a month now. My upholstery may dry rot before the panels get here

That's why they have brown trucks.
For small parts I will do that, but any large sheet metal, I pick up in person. My hood, floors, trunk lid, and fenders were all picked up and looked at before I paid for them.
