The new Camaro SS convertible coming out soon starts at $39,999 with no options?????!!!!!

I just don't see a lot of people paying that much for this type of car especially when you add a few options and the car is in the mid-$40k range. Seems people in that price range are looking at Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, etc.

Mercedes and Audi make cars in the $40K range? Must be their economy model.

Yep, I'm pretty sure. Not a V8 powered Audi or Mercedes but one of their entry lines for sure.

I've seen new Corvettes going in the $43k - $45k range as well. IF I could afford such a car, I don't know if a Camaro would be what I'd buy.

my bro-in -law ordered the new drop top camaro today. he lives in waco tx. but ordered it in bryan tx. i think. heavy loaded white with orange. he was taljing about a z engine or something. he already has a 2009 vette.

Jemo, Don't know where you got that information, but its not correct. The base Camaro 1EF67Camaro Convertable 1LT base price is $30,000. And Chevy is advertising this car at $29,310 dollars right now.

Here is a up to date breakdown of the new Camaro prices.

1EF67 Camaro Convertable 1LT--- $30,000
1EH67 Camaro Convertable 2LT--- $33,500
1ES67 Camaro Convertable 1SS--- $37,500 This is the 1st V8 6.2 liter 426 Hp
1ET67 Camaro Convertable 2SS--- $ 40,500 Same engine as above but very nicely optioned all leather heated seats ETC.ETC.

All of those prices are MSRP and we all know you don't have to pay that price, they always deal.

You know folks after re-reading Jemo post he did in fact say "SS". His price is still off for the base SS convertable by 2 and a 1/2 thousand, but that price of $37,500 is far from no options. Here is how this "SS" comes equiped

6.2 Liter 426 HP V8
20" Bright Silver Painted Wheels
Four Piston Bembo vented disc brakes
Rear Spoiler
SS-specfic front and rear fascia and seat covers
Limited Slip rear end

While this is for sure not loaded by any means it is not really "No Options"

I think if I were looking for another car, and at that price I would choose a different one. I keep telling my wife, "We need a his and hers Trifive" of course that's just an excuse to have another one in the garage. I think she's on to me though!

I just picked up a 2011 Mercedes C300 Sport Fourmatic for the wife for X-mas. Around $43K and no convertible top. Sorry no rear wheel drive daily drivers for us here in the Northeast, too much snow. I do have two Corvette convertibles for summer fun though.

My neighbor who also has A 64 GTO and a mid 70's Vette just drove the new Camaro and said it was very overrated. He bought a new Convertible 6 speed Corvette instead. Said it blew the Camaro off the road and was the fastest production car "HE" has ever driven and that it handles like a sneaker. Said it was scary fast. I do love the look of the Camaro though!

final price will be way over $40,000 when done with taxes and all the other b.s. stuff. to much for me. :reddy:

I drive a 1972 Chevy truck no radio, holes in the seat and top speed is about 75mph when it's warm out. If I had the money that could go into a new camaro I'd probably put into my 57 and fixup my wife's car..:happy0007:

She's a looker :):tu

That's why I drive junkers that barely get me to work and back...
I haven't seen a car yet that I would pay more than 10k for...

$40K isn't out of line for a car like an SS convertible Camaro. It's not your typical grocery getter or commuter car.

Let's talk about the new ZR-1 Corvette at over $100K.

I thought the Camaro Z/28 was supposed to come out this year with the LS-A 556 HP engine. What happened to that?

camaros only have about $1500 profit built in at list. a 6 speed base corvette can be had for around $40,000 with discounts and i've seen several at that price. i'll bet that you'll be able to buy a base corvette for the same or less than a convertible camaro and be able to run circles around it with 6 or 7 hundred less pounds. but comparing apples to apples and add a convertible corvette then the price will be about $6000 higher. i'd still rather have a corvette for roughly $6000 more.

From the Camaro forum(s), i.e. wild rampant speculation --- mid 2011

Road and Track said look for it at the Detroit auto show--- more forum talk---won't happen, would steal all of the thunder from the convertable

Too bad.....I said that if they came out with a Z/28 with a high HP engine I'd have to buy one. I guess they saved me some money, and I'll have to keep driving my Porsche for now. :)

But not everyone wants a convertible, so I'll bet the Z/28 could still happen.....someday. Heck, if they can put a 550 HP engine in a Cadillac, why not a Camaro??? :tu

I had a blue Nickey's 69 Z/28 that I wish I still had.
