I am ready to install the door and fender stainless. My problem is I have never done this and I do not know which clip goes where. Is there a place that shows where each clip fits on the stainless? Some are push clips, some are the clips with the springs, and some have metal plates and screws. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

The bigger turn ins with nuts are quarter panel, spring clips plus 2 small screw go into each door stainless and pop ins go to front fender
Thanks, that helps me get a better idea of what goes where. I was never good at puzzles. I looked at Danchucks Installation help site but nothing on door or fender clips. It would be nice if there was a place that showed the clips on the moldings. :shakehands:

Do you have the clips? Why are not they already in the stainless? You have to work with us.

Hi Joe, I bought the clips a few years ago (56 Belair 2dr post) when I was stocking up on parts during sale events. They came in plastic bags and were labeled Door, Fender, Quarter. I have never installed or taken off stainless so they kinda look intimidating to me. John

The fenders use the clips that are threaded studs with pal nuts, and the doors use the small metal clips with the threaded hole in them on the ends and the push-in spring type for the other holes. Idea is, I guess, this saves you from taking off the interior door panel to get the trim off if you need to sometime. You run a screw through the holes in front and back on the doors to secure the ends.

Clips

If it took me twenty years to put all my cars back together, I wouldn't be here and apparently it would make a lot of people here happy. When I built my cars there was no internet forum to ask questions, I just had to figure it out. I only asked the questions to test the OP knowledge to address his question. Excuse me for trying to be helpful.

Joe, not trying to be rude at all. Thank you for your input. I was just trying to let you know my skill level when it comes to molding clips. John

Clips

Centerbull50, my comment wasn't addressed to you, it was to the hole that said people take off moldings 20 years ago and throw away the old clips. I can't remember the last time I threw away any Trifive parts because it never happened.

I installed the door stainless (56 belair, 2dr post) and used the push in clips in the 6 inner holes, used screws in the 2 end holes. They went in easily but do not hold the molding tight against the door panel. Is there a way to tighten the clips so they hold the molding tight (I think the molding will rattle) to the door panel? The holes in the door are factory, with some being square and some being oval. Thanks, John
