What you have is NOT a 57 engine. It is a much newer engine. The only DC suffix I found with a quick search is a 69 307.

Just found this one also, 67 283.

DC 1967 283 195 2 m/t, Low Compression

You will need to get the casting number off the block to see exactly what you have. It is on the block behind the drivers side cylinder head.

Here's a bit of extra info.
V= Flint eng. assembly plant.
11= assembly mo. (Nov.)
08= Eng. assembly day.

Yes, this is where i found that info that your talking about bob..

 

First question to ask: does the block have the bosses for side motor mounts.
Then, ask for the casting number and casting date. Then there are no secrets.
