So there are several different carbs that come up for this car.

1957 Two Ten Four door with a 6-cyl.

It has the offset air cleaner with the small neck on the carb. Pics attached.

I can only find the ones at the usual parts places that have the larger neck. Too big for the air cleaner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried that air cleaner on the car? The reason I ask is that the 57 air cleaner was different then the 55-56 air cleaner due to the design change on the hood of a 57, a lower profile. Used an air cleaner and a carb that took into consideration the lower hood profile. Give me a few minutes to go to the garage to see if I can access a 57 cleaner. It been hanging up for 25 years any how, lol. I will also shoot you a photo of the correct carb for a 57.

Ok, this is a standard 57 air cleaner. Mine is so far up in the rafters that there is no way for me to get to it but this photo is the correct version. Notice that it is thinner near the carb, and the recessed divet for the wing nut to hold it down.

Well, you do have the wrong carburetor. The good news is that hundreds of thousands of these were made, into the 60's. The bad news is that hundreds of thousands of them were replaced with other things and simply thrown away. The worse news is that they're hard to find today and the ones available are mostly junk, with every one of them needing to be rebuilt and good ones costing several hundred. I've seen them up to $400 for rebuilt, working ones.

If you find a correct one, East Coast Chevy will rebuild it for <$200. Here's one on ebay now http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-63-Che...-barrel-carburetor-/372010855484?hash=item569d932c3c:g:gH8AAOSwmNlZZk8V&vxp=mtr It's not the right year but the only difference is external (extra linkage you won't need anyway)

I have two good ones on my car but I had to go through six carbs to get enough matching and workable parts to rebuild them.

Good luck.

There is also a correct 57 air cleaner on eBay for 50. As for a carb, rock auto sells a rebuilt carb, actually two, one for stick and one for automatic. Looks like 112 for the carb and 95 as the core charge. So like 207 outright, or if you can source a used carb for less, a bit lower. I have purchase half a dozen carbs from them and have not had one bad apple. That is not to say that it does not happen, but my experience has been positive.

Last, it looks like the Chinese have a copy of the 57 and up carb brand new. I know of no one who has used one of these knock offs but would be real interested to know if they work. 209 plus shipping for a new carb.
