http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/crime/2015/06/13/james-boulware-dpd-attack-criminal-history/71168314/The possible suspect in a shooting incident outside Dallas police headquarters early Saturday morning told officers that he was the same man arrested on multiple assault charges in 2013, according to police.
Dallas police said the suspect identified himself as James Boulware, but officials could not immediately confirm the identity. The suspect was later shot and killed by a police sniper.
"I think he went in knowing he wouldn't come out," said Boulware's mother, Jeannine Hammond.
Boulware, 35, was arrested by authorities in Paris, Texas on multiple assault charges in May 2013, according to Lamar County jail records. Records show Boulware was charged with one count of impeding a family member's breath or circulation and another count of causing bodily injury to a family member.
That incident, which happened in Dallas, involved multiple threats of violence against family and community members. The case, filed by Dallas police, was later dismissed.
Neighbors in Paris describe Boulware as "odd," saying after hearing about that incident they tried to stay away.
"There were times, he was talking and hollering and cussing. He'd walk the streets at night hollering," said one neighbor who asked not to be identified.
Boulware's mother said she was "so glad none of the police were hurt," adding that her son heard voices in his head and had suffered from mental illness since he was 14 years old.
Hammond said what happened Saturday morning amounts to "suicide by police."
Boulware's family wanted him to get psychiatric help, but didn't know how, and didn't have the money to pay for it.
Hammond said the last time she saw her son was in court on April 28.
Dallas police Chief David Brown said the suspect referenced a past incident with the department during initial negotiations in a standoff outside a fast food restaurant in Hutchins shortly after the gunfire at police headquarters.
"The suspect has told our negotiators that we took his child, accused him of being a terrorist, and that he's going to 'blow us up,'" Brown said. The suspect then cut off negotiations......

I'll fill in the blanks. How bout "expert ass"?This was a comment by a CNN anchorwoman.

I think anyone who calls a suicide killer "courageous and brave" should be put on the no-fly list and watched closely by homeland security. That's way too high of a position for a...... (someone) like that.
Very lucky indeedI'm thankful that no Officers or Civilians were killed.

Terrible situation. Very glad to hear that police and innocent bystanders are OK.
Sounds as if this guy was mentally unstable since age 14 and should not have been running around loose. Didn't get the help he needed and this is the result. His mother describes his actions as amounting to 'suicide by police'......
