I'm restoring a 57 convertible and its going to to be harbor blue. My problem is that ppg's formula doesnt seem to match the orginal color. PPG shows that code 11495 is harbor blue, but when mixed its way to green. After doing some searching I also found code 11496 as harbor blue, but its to dark and still to green. I have some Dupont lucite acrylic lacquer that im comparing the color to. The dupont paint has matched two other 57s one that is still stock, the other had been repainted. Anybody out there spray ppg bc/cc and what did you end using for a paint code? Thanks for the help. Heath

Heath, I think that you may find a better color match using Dupont chroma base with todays paints. Seems like since they took the lead out of paint that PPG does not match the older colors as well. I will be using Chroma base on my car because it is a very good match to some PPG Duracryl Lacquer that I mixed back in the late 70's when I worked in the paint store. I had a small sample of PPG base coat mixed for a test and it was way off both in shading of color and also metallic size did not look right on test panels. I am painting mine Dusk Pearl Poly and I have noticed many variations on various cars I have seen. Just my experience. See if you can find a Dupont paint store willing to mix a very small amount for you to test. With the electronic scales now used to mix paint they should be able to mix less than 1/4 a pint if they are willing to try. Good luck
