Ok I see. We use PEX in the homes we build. Easy to work with and use crimp connections. My son is a plumber and did my shop in 1/2'' hard copper, I wonder what it would cost now  Have several drops but rarely is there more than one of us useing the air at one time.
1/2 " Hard Copper is still the best choice, Pex is very good alternative as well as Flex PVC. And the fun, there is adaptor to interchange from Copper to PEX without welding or glue. Bruce, you got the best option...

Just what is flex PVC and how is it different from rigid PVC for air line use?

I am familiar with rigid PVC, and I'm familiar with PVC hose.
Flex PVC is a blend of different grade of PVC to make it asRigid PVC application but in a soft manner. They mainly use it around bath tub, Spa & Pool. They are near similar to PVC hose but in a better grade of material. They do not reconmand that application for potable water but it better then P.E. tubing used on subpumps of wells. Plumbing is very regulated but industries can manage there way.

Would I ever see flex pvc in a building supply type store? How is it marked to make it recongnizable compared to the usual rigid stuff? Do they make fittings from the same stuff? Do you join it with the same type of solvent adhesive?

Since it is Flex PVC, you will find them on coil/roll of 50 to 500 feets, white, beige, grey & black. This pipe glue in all PVC standard fittings with same adhesive, or pressure type fittings versus clear or braided hoses are used in barb & insert fittings, only. They are classified in Schedule 40, 80 & Electrical and the marking show the usual standard they meet. I do not know if it is so easy to find do, because I have look at HomeHardware & others and no stock. Hope, that help you.

Huh? I've had mine done in 1 inch PVC for 9 or 10 years now. All inside, and all in climate control........shop has a heat pump. All's fine so far.
Hey Buster, You may never run into a problem for a while but If a piece of some thing fall/hurt the pipe ... No need to panic, just be aware and protect the compressor.
