Quick Performance 9-inch Rearend - reviews?

I just saw this in another thread:

Quick Performance 9 inch. Ready to bolt in, complete, for right at 2K. Much stronger than a stock tri five rear and much stronger than an S10 rear. Will handle up to 600hp. Also a great selling point should you ever sell the car.
I knew that 9-inch rears were becoming more affordable, just didn't realize they were THAT affordable. I checked the website, that seems to be an excellent value, plus there are several optional upgrades available.

I'm not in the market for one right now, but if I ever do need one I'll look there first. Does anyone have experience with this vendor? Pros? Cons? Too good to be true?

I bought one from them about 8 months ago. I have not run it yet, but the workmanship is top notch. I bought stock tri-five width with big Ford ends, Quick Performance 31 Spline axles (really nice!), drain plug and a jacking plate on the bottom (for a floor jack) and Yukon Posi pumpkin.

Everything looks great. I had them just tack the spring perches so I could check the angle before final weld, and they were tacked on 4* up. I have my engine at 4* down, so they are in the correct location.

I think it was around $2300 to my door IIRC for everything.

I don't think their stuff is a breakthrough in affordability by any means.
I guess I haven't been paying attention! :sign0020:

I'm going to devote some more time to research...but in the meantime, do any other vendors come to mind that are less expensive than this? Not that price is the exclusive criteria, but I'm curious about what's out there.

Probably the most affordable replacement rear end is an 8.8 Ford. They are widely used and the Ford Explorer ones are cheap. You can probably do that conversion for about a grand and get disc brakes and posi if you are willing to do the necessary work.

I had so much other stuff to do, I elected to buy the QP one ready to bolt in.

Yep..

Same issue here.Lots of trash.
First, a "GIVEN": Ford 9" rears leak!

There are some things to do, to combat the leaks.
1. Before installing the studs, I take a 3" cutoff wheel, on my die grinder, and knock the burrs off of the insides of the carrier bolt holes.
2. I chamfer the outer sides of the stud holes, in the hsg, & the gear side of the carrier, too.
3. The "folded" flange in the hsg, HAS to be cleaned out. You may/may not be able to run a wire thru it. I use air and brake clean.
I use only, the Permatex oil/lube resistant sealer. [In the black tube.]
No gasket, per Quick tech instructions.

The chamfers allow for the sealer, to form an "o'ring" around the studs.
Each of the studs gets a THIN wipe of sealer, just under the head, before I pull them in.

I put a stock width 9" bolt in housing and 35 spline Moser axles from Quick Performance about 6 months ago. I was very happy with the quality of the housing. I also purchased the carrier and gears from them and I was happy with them as well. It did take almost a month to get the housing/axles so if you are on a schedule, be aware of that.

I bought a Heavily built 9" from Quick a couple years ago. Very happy with the product and price. As I recall it was around 2 grand, but built to withstand anything one can throw at it. Bryden was very helpful with the sale and very good customer service. Most pleased, and he even threw in 2 nice Quick tee shirts too!

9 inch rears do not leak if assembled correctly. No more than a stock tri five rear or any rear with a drop out center section. Correct seals and use of correct sealants prevents leaks in any rear axle. Quick Performance stands behind their products, great customer service and tech support.

Ordered complete 9" rear from Quick Performance about 10 days ago. I had them hold shipment until I got back from a trip. Just received Axels, third member 3:40 with track loc, drilled and slotted rotors, calipers etc. Housing is coming next week. Everything looks great! Can't wait to get it all in the 55. Really great people to deal with!
