pretty fun, not worth the 80 grand they are asking. Still amazing how hard these EV's accelerate.

My neighbor upgraded his 48 volt golf cart to one single lithium battery---found out really quick that his grandkids couldn't drive it. LOL It will smoke the tires. Went from around 18mph to 30 top speed. He had to make a stop for the accelerator to slow it down when they ride it.

My son who works for Rivian has an R1T quad motor. Does 0 to 60 in 3 seconds flat. Pretty amazing acceleration with the instant torque but they are pricey.

I've been reading the reports on this for the past four years or so, and am very disappointed at the results, and the price. This is the exact opposite of what the VW Bus originally stood for. As it is, it's a part time toy for rich folks with more money than sense. IMO, they should have offered it as with a ICE, or Hybrid, or All Electric power source. And the price point should have been around $35K to 40K.

All electric narrowed the market down, then asking $80K limited the sales to only fools. That said, when items are purposely vastly overpriced, there are always buyers who make that expensive purchase in an attempt to impress like-minded associates.

I had a '67 VW bus in 1970, paid $800 bucks for it. It was a blast to drive, great for camp outs, but a total dog as far as acceleration. Loud inside, lots of squeeks and rattles, crappy heater for the northern midwest, but fun. In the winter, you'd drive with one hand, and scrape the ice off of the inside windshield, in between manual transmission shifting, with the other. The heater felt like a mouse was breathing on your ankle!

Sold it after two years and bought a '70 Beetle. That car lasted me through college, with a dirt poor students budget, then my first two years of Marriage (Now at 51 years and still going!) .

Anyway, very disappointed in this New (?) VW Bus, price is ridiculous, and the Electric only offering is going to kill it off quick.....IMO.

i have seen a few of these, and am pretty amazed that VW went and did this in all electric. Im sure there are still some hippies with too much cash that are in love with these, but it seems like they would have a limited audience for all the R&D for this one (what i think) low number sales vehicle. i mean, the Rav4 isnt the best looking vehicle, but they are everywhere. and if im not mistaken they are making an all electric model in 2026. That to me makes sense they way those are selling.

There is kind of a cult following for the VW vans though, but its not big. one of our mechanics has a westafalia or whatever. loves it to death, but thankfully he has a full set of tools to work on it, and is patient when it needs parts that no brick and mortar store sells.
