The terminals have to come out of the plug to get the wires up through the column. Tie a string or wire to the old wires so you can pull the new wires down through the column.

 

Hardest part is when you forget to pull a wire thru with the old wires likes Don said.

When refitting the turn signal lever place a little Loc Tite on the screw so it does not loosen on you

No I had a wire broken and signals don't work Also I wanted to clean and paint the housing

 

Make sure your wires lay flat or this can happen....

The shifter tube rubbed a hole in the wiring and did all sorts of things.
