Do you run a vented gas cap on your 57's. Having some issues with fuel delivery and my mechanic suggested the tank needed to be vented. Running a stock cap, tank, sending unit, and Carter mechanical pump. If you are running a vented cap where did you purchase? Thanks

A vented cap is required on a 57. 55 and 56's have a notch in the filler pipe so a vented cap is not required but won't hurt to have one. Danchuk shows how their gas cap is vented to block fuel from squirting out under hard acceleration. http://www.danchuk.com/ItemForm.aspx?Item=140
You can test your cap by turning it upside down and filling it with a liquid to see if it runs out. As shown, the hole should not be straight through.

Thanks, this explains the large dents in my new tank. I believe it's been trying to colapse. Obviously some of our suppliers know less than I do about which parts go on certain models. Hope to find a vented one tomorrow.
The correct vented gas cap is this one. Stant G-37 and it looks like this one. They are on eBay. Just make sure you get the G-37.
