I've got slide trays full of screws from tri-5s. There are two different star washers on the same screws. The left one in the pic has more of a flat end and a bit wider, the other is more pointed. These are for wing window mechanism to door, door handle mechanism to door, and window regulator to door. I've always matched the screws to one item but never really knew what was accurate. Which screw for what?

There's probably no "correct" screw. The screws probably came from different suppliers and sent to the different plants, so one car could have different screws from another car. The guys that judge 100% original cars and tell you that a bolt has the wrong marking on the head are blowing smoke. It just never happened that way. An assembly worker could even pick up the wrong screws and as long as it held the part in place, the car went on down the line.
Look at the assembly manual and you will see several optional part numbers for the same fastener. An example is the screws that hold the front sheet metal on. .... http://www.trifive.com/garage/57%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/11-3.gif

What Don said is true. The only thing you need to check is the length. The vent window frame has two longer ones on it, that go down into the regulator. Don'd get those mixed into the main window regulator, or it will jamb, or stop it early. Been there, done that by mistake. But only ONCE

OUCH!!! :tu:tu

Different screws....

This is an un-restored original door, notice there are two styles of star washers just as your pic shows.
The 2 scews that hold the wiper motor on, ones a philllips and the other is a flat head. Both are the same length threads. Correct? Who knows. It does the job...:tu
