small set screw in the side of the knob

If it doesn't have a set screw, does it pull off, turn off or how does it come off. Don't want to mess it up?

if it's the original switch it should have a set screw in the side of the knob

all stock ones have a slotted set screw

I know about the set screw, now I need to know if you pull it off or screw it off? It doesn't want to come off and I don't want to break it.

loosen the screw enough and it should just slip off---

Be sure you have unscrewed it almost all the way. It has a sharp point. Then the knob pulls off.
