Had the old shot about 13-14 years ago, they said to get the new 2 shot Shingrix, that is the last you will ever need.
Like everything else I buy nowadays: "Guaranteed for life"

For those who may not know there is a new shingles vaccine, Shingrix, is recommended for healthy adults 50 and older to prevent shingles, a painful skin rash. It's a two-dose series, administered between 2 and 6 months apart, and is highly effective, even in older age groups.

Years ago I was around a guy that had shingles...He was one miserable individual...Made a lasting impression on me for sure...So, any chance I get to prevent the disease, I do it...I got my second shot yesterday.
Shingrix is Not new> I got mine about 7 or 8 years ago.

Symptoms experienced after a vaccines such as those reported in this thread are actually GOOD, as they illustrate that the Vaccine is working. The experience shows that the vaccine is working, and the recipient unfortunately had an excess of antibodies, that are now under attack by the virus.

Be careful when hearing the numerous conspiracy theories peddled by Non - Medical trained hacks. Listen and respond only to degreed and well educated Medical Professionals.

Here's a great article, explaining how this reactions occurs in some vaccinated individuals, but not in others.

Explain to me why we should get a covid vax that does not stop you from getting covid, or stop you from transmitting covid to other people if you do get it even though you are vaxed. I always thought a real vax was supposed to prevent you from getting the disease.

Had shingles in 2010. Some of the worst pain I've felt and I've done a few doozies on myself... LOL..
Mine was on the inside of my upper right arm and being right handed wasn't fun. Only a couple of people I have known I would wish it on. Could be three if he don't bring my ship back!
Getting my second shot when get back from Bowling Green.

Here are some basic facts about covid 19 Vaccines:

More:

The Covid 19 Vaccine was never intended nor announced to "Cure" the virus, it was repeatedly announced that it would help to lessen the effects of the virus, and help prevent the need for Hospitalization. And it did in most cases.

Here is an excellent definition of what a "Vaccination is, and isn't:

I have had shingle twice. I just toughed it out. was not pleasant but not risking any jabs these days.
John,
Have to agree with you on all this.
My wife has Asthma, Mild High Blood Pressure and Afib, and I have a Heart Condition since birth (TOF).
We were both supposed to be "at risk" during Covid, but did not get shots. Her daughters in the "big city" were begging us to get the shot, but no way.
I work in all kinds of places every week, and we both came out OK, I did not get COVID until 2022 near the end of it's run, and worst thing I had was very tired and very sore throat.
Dr at Urgent Care basically told me "go home and rest, you will get over it" !!
No mention of me being "at risk".

My uncle who will be 92 in a week, was pretty healthy all his life, about 10 years ago had a stent put in, but was OK after that. He rushed out and got all three Covid shots, and since then has had more heath issues. He believes it is just "old age", but I still think all the shots did not do him any good. My late mom only had 1 Covid shot, and she did not have any bad effects from it.

My sister recently had Shingles too, yes, was panful for her, but she got over it with some prescription meds and toughing it out.

My Dr is ALWAYS after me to get the Shingles Vax, but maybe they get a "kickback" ??
Who knows, but the Pharma Companies advertise ALL OVER the place! USA is the only country that allows this....wonder why???

I will be 62 very soon, and even with my TOF, I am on no meds, other than baby aspirin every day. I feel pretty lucky for that. Maybe someday my luck will run out though!
Keep working on my cars until then LOL !!!

Guys, this thread is about the shingles vaccine. Please leave the covid posts out of it or they will be deleted.

I got the Shingrix 2-dose a few years ago with no side effects.
My older brother, who had not had the vaccine, ended up getting a somewhat mild case of shingles, and part of it ended up in one of his ears.
He now has hearing loss in that ear. I think it is called Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

I knew a guy that ended up with it in his eye. Not good. Messed his eye up.
