took 55 to body shop 2 years ago. only work done was in march 2010. he only worked 22 hours on it. i had to pick it up last week. this was a friend with a regular paint and body shop. i pay cash and pay as work is done so only spent $700. i have found a classic car restoration shop to work on it. they only take in two cars at a time. mine goes in two more weeks. sad part is i have wasted two years and body was soda blasted and sand blasted completely. have to re-do all that because he never put primer on. $1000 wasted.
I think those small shops take in too many jobs that they can't possibly finish within a reasonable time. It's good that you're not out too much money. A few shops want half the money up front.

Watch 'em!

Good Luck with the new shop! Sounds like they might have their act together. Don't feel too bad - I hear similar stories all the time!

Can't you just hit the surface with a DA sander to clean it up? Hitting it twice with soda blasting wouldn't be my first option. If it's not bad, just have then sand it down as that will be less time and money perhaps. Hard to say without seeing current pics? Glad to hear you have someone to work on it. Keep us all updated.

got the body clean again after sitting in shop for two years. used sand on underneath, interior and firewall. glass bead on body. new floors and new one piece trunk floor. bought a new gold star hood and a new gas tank at dfw swap meet last week. here are a few updated pics. very happy with new shop doing work. they do exactly what they say and exactly when.

Hopefully things will keep moving forward now. I just had my front sheet metal blasted and epoxy primed for $700, which is more than I wanted to pay but I'm happy to finally be doing something to it and hopefully will get the front suspension finished next week if all goes well

Glad to hear that things are going your way again. Wish i had known you were going to be at the swap meet last week, maybe we could have met up.

Anxious to see some pictures when the paint starts neighbor!
Keep up with the good work.
