Took the 55 to the track friday night to setup my Cal tracs and see how they would work with the drag radials.. Made 3 passes 1/8th mile runs, I wasn't looking to set the world on fire just wanted to dial in the chassis, and not break anything.. Met those goals and am happy for the first time out with this car. Wanted to weigh the car but they didn't have scales... Let me know what you all think..

1st pass = 1.93 60ft. / 9.23et / 59 mph pulled left , spun tires, let off

2nd pass = 1.62 60ft. / 6.77et / 105mph spun tires again

3rd pass = 1.47 60ft. / 6.82 et / 84 mph let off thought I was past the stripe, never raced at this track.. Dumb move on my part..

when you set up the bars did you have your weight in the seat?? set the bars to 1/2 turn pre-load?? if so then add 1/4 turn at a time to the side that the car pulls to until it goes straight. if you did not have your weight in the seat then you need to start over. 1.47 60' time is pretty good . that will get you a low 10 second pass in the quarter mile

Big MPH, so you have low 10's in it for sure. Here is a decent comparison for reference on my best pass to date that will give you an idea on 1/4 time you'll be around.
1.438 60', 6.577 @ 104.26 in the 1/8 and went 10.376 @ 128.70 in the 1/4.

You are making a lot of HP for sure.

Nice, how was the track prep?

What drivetrain combo did you end up with?

Do you know what your weight percentage to the rear is? Rough weight of the car?

Looking good if your still working out bugs and the overall setup.

cal tracs

I am installing CalTracs and new 5 leaf rear springs on my '57 this week, I would be thrilled with 1.4 60' times. Car currently has 'clip-on' chrome slapper bars from the 60's 0r 70's and the original springs have a visible sag where the snubber contacts the single leaf about 6-8 inches behind the eyelet. I have Caltracs on a bracket car and it 60's 1.3 t 1.4 and mph's 122-124 in quarter, however, it has 10' slicks. My 57 has 17" rims with 275/40/17 street radials which will likely be replaced prior to TFN and fun runs, any dual purpose tire suggestions?

< That photo in my avatar is with Mickey Thomson ET streets, 1.45 60' times pulling the fronts at 3800 lbs.

Yes, I was in the seat, no 1/2 turn of preload the pin just touches the spring and 1 flat of preload on the side it pulled to. It went straight after that.. Calvert rear shocks set on 8. Hoping I can get to 10.20's that was my goal when I built it..

Now to answer the rest of the questions,
1. track prep was not very good.
2. Launch off the foot brake 1800rpm all 3 runs
3. All steel except hood, no front bumper, thur the mufflers
4. 496 pump gas engine..NA No power adders, E-85, :party0031:
5. M/T 295/65R15 Drag Radials

Yes it was fun, first time down the track in almost 20 years, going back as soon as the weather cools back down.. Good thing from the times I did get it, the 330' picked up from 4.62 sencond pass to 4.26 the last past that's very encouraging...

Do you have any pics of the car? Would like to see the rear tire setup? I guess you have pocketed the frame for the springs.
I mini tubbed it to the frame, installed a frame pocket kit. 15x10 Welds with 6.5 backspace, Strange S60 (Dana 60) 4.30 gears, 35 spline axles, spool, Cal-Tracs, Calvert shocks, Calvert mono leaf springs with a 3"drop, 296/65r15 MT drag radials..

can you post a picture of the side of your car?? I have a friend who thinks the 3" springs are too low for his car and from what I can tell your car sits nice.

Here you go, just looked and I don't have any full side pics..
that definitely helps, but if you can get a side shot it would help too. I like the stance.
