A 55 may have it clipped to the bottom lip of the dash. Turn signals were optional in 1955 and, depending on weather they were dealer or factory installed it could be different places. ...... http://www.trifive.com/garage/55%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/100-3.gif

 

Wow, I didn't know they were optional....never saw a 55 without them. :tu

Brian....Another thought.....The PO could have put it almost anywhere under the dash....Turn on the directional and follow the noise.(If its working)

 

I understand it was a mandatory option, all 48 states required them but many exports did not.

 

Could be anywhere, depending on any wiring additions that previous owners performed.

Mine is clipped in a "U" clip along the bottom of the dashboard, in the vicinity of the headlight switch.

You can get different types of flashers get the right one for the car if you have one :anim_25:

 

With regard to the flasher, I have gone thru this too many times. I never buy the $4.95 silver flasher. I will always buy the heavy duty one that will fit exactly but it is clear and you can see the electronics in it. They are about $15-$20. NO compairson.
