I snatched up some moroso sbc valve covers on Craigslist at a very good deal, but when I put them on my 265 (with 283 power pack heads) the bottom flange was to large. Are all sbc valve covers not the same? I'm aware that earlier ones where staggered, that's not the issue here.

Try turning them around (back to front)

aluminum valve covers interfering with intake manifold is a common occurrence. Thick valve cover gaskets are available to help with this or you can grind some clearance .

:bowtieb:Ok, I think this maybe the problem, I don't know which style moroso VC you have, but a lot of the early ones were bad to warp between the lower set of holes, when stamped out,"or made"!!-- Sometimes you have to put them in a vice, with some shop towels on each side of the cover and squeeze the sides of the cover together, to fit!!---Don't ask me how I know this!!---Without seeing the covers, this is all I can think of!!--- I hope this helped!!---Best of luck!!---:driver:milton

One of two things, IMHO...You either need thicker gaskets or reliefs cut on the intake manifold side.

his problem seems to be the exhaust side. the moroso covers may not fir with stock exhaust manifolds as they run right along the cover rail.
