Been on vacation all week so i worked on my 56 build, in particular the stroker engine. Then watched the pre view of the up comming Scottsdale Barrett Jackson auction. Then went to bed a little after midnight just to make sure i made it to 2013.

We took our best friends to dinner in town. They were celebrating the 53rd anniversary of their first date...We had an awesome night.
I hope everyone has a better 2013...I for one am glad to see 2012 in the rearview.

Nice New Year's

Hi, Grant here. Had steak and lobster at the neighbors place. Talked for several hours, went home to a backyard firepit and passed the time looking at the stars and hearing snowmobiles off in the distant on the trail. Am I getting old???

I had bought tickets to private party on friday. they had an open bar and celebrity DJ's. asked the girl i've been talking to, to go but she had already made plains to take her daughter to go see the rose parade.
so i took my cousin instead because he's a drinker. stayed at that party till about 12:30 then went to another party that some friends of friends were having down the street (the first place was in highland park the second party was in south pasadena) about 1.5 miles away. The second party got broken up by the cops around 2:30am. A couple that i know ask if i wanted to go to another party in echo park at the house of a girl who has a teepee in backyard. 6 people piled into my 91 escort, it times like these that wish i had the chevy in tip top shape. anyway we all get there around 2:45am. I'm not one to smoke the peace pipe in a teepee. And proud to say i've never tried cocaine(which there was a lot of) but i still had a good time. met lot of new cool peps. got home at 4:50am. as i was driving home i realized got up for work that day at 4am and was awake for the past 25 hours.

It was a dark and stormy night here in Texas. Spent a nice quiet evening at home with my lovely young bride. Have been on a perpetual honeymoon these past 16 years and loving it.

Our family have a tradition of serving holiday koldomars (cabbage rolls) made with beef. The recipe was given to my grandmother by her neighbours who brought the recipe with them from Norway (although my mother always referred to the dish as Swedish koldomars). Whilst these slow cooked in our crock pot......

After stopping by the forum here...... We watched one of our favourite movies out in the garage. The '57 isn't running, so I set up the TV on a table in front of the car, turned out the lights and we sat in the car and watched it. Not exactly a drive in movie, but very romantic nonetheless.

After a late dinner, we toasted the New Year with some apple cider.

Today, after calling the kids and grandkids to wish them all a Happy New Year, I made a big pot of red beans and rice with some lean beef brisket and we kicked back, my wife working on her novel whilst I conjured up all manner of wild and crazy things to do with carburettors if I get a good report from the doctor next month.

I went to bed around 10:00PM, and got up early to work on the '55. Worked on it until 1:30 AM. What would any other NORMAL Person do? Ha Ha! Making good progress, i will start a thread soon. The motor is running already, and i made a video. Is there a way to post videos here? Anyways, i hope the new year is good to all you Tri-Fivers! -Bud

I just returned from Rome Italy last night. My Wife's birthday is New Years Eve and she thought it would be nice to celebrate the New Year in Rome. Needless to say it was beyond nice! Happy New Year to all!

I fell asleep about 10pm even though I live within a mile of the Statosphere here in Vegas. Party pooper these days but got a good nights sleep and didn't have a hangover. I don't think I could handle one anyway !It can be anothers turn , I did my share in my younger days. Happy New Year ,Trifivers !

Wife had to work at Wallyworld till 9. With snow and ice on roads we stayed hame and watched the Rockin New Years 2013. Went to bed after ball dropped in New York. Did you guys see the Dick Clark rememberance. I thought the Oprah deal was a hoot to see.
Yes, saw the "Turn on Dick" Oprah bit. What a hoot. FYI - all the Hollywood musical acts (of which my daughter was a part of) are pre-recorded, not live. Sorry to ruin your day, but that's how they do it! My daughter was in Anguila. Met Paul McCartney, he was in the front row of their performance with one of his daughters.

We had a special New Year this year.
As it was our 30th wedding annaversary this year, we decided to fly to Sydney to watch the fireworks there. It's is he middle of summer here and new years eve was a beautiful warm evening. The fireworks are let off from the harbour bridge and barges in the harbour, also from some of the high buildings. We were lucky enough to be able to get on a harbour criuse and have a front row seat at midnight.
What a spectacular sight, an absolultly stunning sight.
A once in lifetime event for us!

cheers -stu
