Did 57 Bel-Airs come with a clock delete and what does it look like?

I made one of those Bel Air clock covers back in '68 for my buddy's 57 Bel Air 4 door hardtop Junior Stock racecar. We also had the Bel Air radio cover, the heater cover and even a lighter cover from a 150. We didn't cover it with Bel Air dash material because the bezel hole is bigger than the plug. We didn't know about the 55 ashtray cover back then or we would have searched one out.

This has been discussed before, but not resolved. I am of the opinion that clocks were standard equipment, some others feel they were optional. The currently available delete covers are the 1500/2100 series' style, without the aluminum patterned cover. The delete covers that are sometimes seen with the aluminum cover seem factory made which lends support for the theory that the clock was deletable. They may have been a delete option. Since the Assembly Manual only shows 1500 and 2100 series' covers, the assumption can be made that the clocks were standard on the 2400 series and no cover was needed. This might have been a dealer item rather than factory. I'd be interested in knowing if the Bel Air covers that exist have the raised star in the center under the covering or are they flat. And is the mounting hardware the same as the others? Who Knows? :dontknow:

Just to add I was looking at a book called Fingertip Facts for the 1957 Chevrolet which was produced by Chevrolet for the use by dealership sales staff.

On page C11 there is a mention specific to Bel Air Models:

Electric Clock.......Standard in Bel Air models

Also on page G7 there is this quote " Electric Clock..............Accessory for "Two Ten" and "One Fifty" models. An electric clock is standard in all Bel Air models".

I have a 57 Belair 2dr sedan. My car does not have one single option on it. 6 cylinder and all, nothing, nada, but has a clock and glove box light. My dad bought the car from the original owner so I know that nothing has been removed. I also believe that all belairs came with a clock standard
