So i picked up an original trifive steering wheel and tonight went to go see how it was going to look. Holy hell are these things big. Between the diameter of the wheel and my bucket seats, im actually looking through the wheel to see where im going....this isnt going to work. Any ideas? maybe some way to raise the seats?

Other than raising the seats... not much you can do! I remember I always had to look around the top of the horn ring to see my speedo... an accident sovled that, when I was polishing the ring (off the wheel).. I snapped the top off by accident. So I filed the nubs that were still protruding to be even with the spokes of the wheel, when I put the wheel back on the car I will only have the bottom portion of the horn ring... cool with me!

Most of the guys back in the late 50's changed their trifive steering wheels to a 58-60 Impala wheels. They look sharp and are about 1-1/2" smaller diameter if I remember right.

Guys in the 70's like me used 59-60 Impala wheels too. In fact my car has one on it now. I will post my original wheel in the for sale section. Jim

The thought of what you said brought back memories... Years ago there used to be this little old lady here in town who looked everything like Madame the puppet. She drove around in this big ol' 1960's Buick and she had to look through the steering steering wheel to see where she was going. I just tried to stay out of her way! :anim_25:
